Meet Allison Sowders, CNP — Nurse Practitioner Mentor 

 

Helping new nurse practitioners feel confident, supported, and prepared in primary care.

 

I began my nursing career as an RN in the emergency department, where I worked for four years. In 2019, I graduated with my MSN from the University of Cincinnati and stepped into my new role as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

That first year was a whirlwind — exciting, stressful, and overwhelming. Transitioning from the fast-paced ER to a primary care office was a culture shock, and I often felt like I was figuring it out alone.

Now, nearly five years later, I finally feel confident in practice — and I want to shorten that learning curve for new nurse practitioners like you.

Through Nurse Practitioner Mentorship, I provide practical training, mentorship, and CE courses that help NPs gain confidence in real-world primary care.

 Life Beyond the Clinic

 

Outside of my role as a family nurse practitioner, my favorite job is being a mom. I have three amazing kids who keep life busy, joyful and crazy. Most of my free time is spent at sports games, school activities, and family adventures. We love spending time outdoors, enjoying simple moments together, and making memories as a family.

Balancing career and family has taught me the importance of flexibility, patience, and perspective which are lessons I carry into my mentorship with new NPs.

At Nurse Practitioner Mentorship, my mission is to help new nurse practitioners feel confident, supported, and prepared as they step into primary care practice.

I know firsthand how overwhelming the transition from RN to NP can be, and no one should have to go through it alone.
