For nurse practitioners new to primary care

Less Googling, more knowing.

You're not missing knowledge. You're missing a system for the visit, the inbox and the chronic follow-up.

Three nights on Zoom with Allison, a residency-trained family nurse practitioner. You'll watch her run a real primary care week in a practice chart: the visit, the inbox, the chronic follow-up. By Wednesday you'll have a way to run each one, and a plan for the rest of your first year.

Live premiere on Zoom at 7pm ET each night. Watch together, and I'm in the chat answering your questions the whole time. The patient cases are pre-recorded so nothing gets rushed.

The real diagnosis

It's not you. It's the gap.

You passed boards. You know what an A1c is and what a potassium of 5.4 means. So why does the day still feel like it's running you?

Because this was never about capability. It's capacity: how many decisions you can carry in a 15-minute visit when every one has to be built from scratch. School taught you the diseases. Clinic runs on systems. Nobody hands you the systems.

That part is teachable. It's what I got in residency, and it's what these three nights are.

Is the gap running your clinic day?

Tap everything that's true. Nobody sees this but you.

  • You Google between patients and hope nobody notices.
  • You chart at 9pm because the visits ran into each other.
  • An abnormal result is sitting in your inbox because you're not sure of the next step.
  • You've cried in your car after clinic.
  • A patient brings four problems to a 15-minute visit and you leave having handled one.
  • Your orientation was short and your schedule filled up fast.
  • There's nobody you can text a quick clinical question to.
  • You've quietly wondered if you made the wrong career move.

The week of November 16

One practice. Three nights. The same patients all week.

Every night happens in a practice chart. You'll meet a patient on Monday, see his labs come back on Tuesday, and see how it all turns out on Wednesday. Watch in order if you can.

NIGHT 1 · MON, NOV 16

The 15-minute visit

Why the first year feels this hard when you know the material. Then a full visit: a patient with four things on his list, run from the door to the finished note.

NIGHT 2 · TUE, NOV 17

The inbox

His labs are back, and so is the rest of the 5:45 inbox. My SCAN method, start to finish on a real CMP, then the portal messages, refills and forms that keep you late.

NIGHT 3 · WED, NOV 18

The chronic visit and your first year

An insulin follow-up with lows, worked in the right order, plus the question everyone asks: when do I bring them back? Then your first year, mapped out. Runs a little longer.

Live premiere on Zoom at 7pm ET, with me in the chat the whole time. Miss a night? Replays stay up through Sunday, Nov 22.

Something you can use in clinic Thursday morning.

  • A way to run the 15-minute visit so the thing that mattered most gets handled.
  • A way to work any abnormal result, from first look to next step to note.
  • A chronic follow-up you can run the same way every time.
  • A plan for the rest of your first year: what to learn now and what can wait.

What it is

Three nights for new primary care NPs, premiered together on Zoom with me in the chat. You watch the work done on screen, in a practice chart, not a lecture.

What it isn't

Not a board review. Not specialty training. Not advice on your own patients. On the last night I'll share how you can keep working with me, for anyone who wants that.

In their words

How NPs describe learning with me.

These are from my courses and other work, not from this challenge.

"Your approach and the framework you teach for understanding these labs have helped me significantly."Maria Teresa N. Obenza, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC
"Listen! Allison is the REAL DEAL! Worth every penny!!!"Lashawnda Jackson
"I find listening to you in my car and your teaching style encouraging and relaxing."Carolyn
"My current schooling and required textbooks... do not do justice in helping me understand advanced practice in the real-world setting."Karin, FNP student

Meet your host

Allison, residency-trained family nurse practitioner

I was an ER nurse from 2015 to 2019. I have done primary care as a nurse practitioner since May of 2019, starting with a one-year residency alongside family medicine physician residents.

That residency year gave me what most new NPs never get: someone showing me how to run the day, not only what the textbook says. Plenty of new NPs get a short orientation and a full schedule instead.

I started Nurse Practitioner Mentor to hand that year forward. This week is the part of it I can show you in three nights.

Is this for you?

Yes, this is you

  • You're an NP in your first year or two of primary care, or about to start.
  • You know the material. The day just moves faster than you can.
  • You want something you can use the next morning.
  • You can give three evenings, at 7pm or on replay.

Not this time

  • You've been in primary care for years and your systems already run.
  • You want a specialty deep dive or board review.
  • You want advice on your own patients.

Questions

Who is this for?

Nurse practitioners new to primary care: your first year or two, or about to start.

Is it live?

Each night is a live premiere on Zoom at 7pm ET. The patient cases are pre-recorded so nothing gets rushed, and I'm in the chat the whole time answering questions.

Which ticket should I get?

VIP if you want to keep the replays, the finished chart notes and dot phrases, the toolkit, my Clinical Desk Reference and a month of the Vault. General if you'll watch at 7pm or catch the replays by Sunday.

Can I still join after Night 1?

Yes, until Tuesday, Nov 17 at 5pm ET. The Night 1 replay is waiting for you as soon as you join, so you can watch it and be with us live Tuesday night.

What if I can't make 7pm?

Every ticket includes replays through Sunday, Nov 22. VIP keeps them for good.

What time, and how long?

7pm ET. Monday and Tuesday run about an hour. Wednesday runs longer, until about 8:30pm ET.

Can I ask questions?

Yes, in the Zoom chat. I'm in it all three nights, answering while the night plays. There's no separate Q&A, and I can't advise on your own patients in a group setting.

Does this count for CE hours?

No. The challenge itself doesn't carry CE.

I already have the Desk Ref or the Vault. Is VIP still worth it?

You'll get the replays for good, the toolkit, and the finished notes and dot phrases. If you already have the Desk Ref or the Vault, those parts won't add anything for you.

What's the Vault?

My searchable library of answers to the questions that come up in a real primary care day. VIP includes 30 days, starting Tue, Nov 17. No card needed, and it ends on its own.

What's in the toolkit?

One printable worksheet per night: the 15-minute visit, SCAN for your inbox, and the Stack plus a first-year map. Included with VIP, or $9 at General checkout.

I bought General. Can I switch to VIP?

Yes, for $50, any time before the replays come down on Sunday, Nov 22. Move up to VIP

Can't make November?

It runs again in January, starting Monday, Jan 25, 2027. November attendees don't get the January replays.

Refunds?

All sales final.

Last thing

The first year costs you something either way.
